Tuesday, May 6 – Limbrick

Decided on a short run this afternoon, so starting off via Lostock, I reached Chorley New Road.  At the Millstone Inn, I made right for Heath Charnock, then Limbrick.  That shell-shocked byway now led to Anglezarke.  Here as everywhere, were signs of awakening Spring, and everything was garbed in fresh green.  A short steep climb led me to Upper Anglezarke, and after a bumpy descent, reached Rivington village.  I now joined that road through Lever Park, past the Little Barn, and made for Lord Leverhulme’s replica of an ancient castle, then turned off again.  I soon reached Horwich, then a fast run to Lostock, and over the ‘Snider’ to Chequerbent, arriving home at teatime.                            25 miles
