Four of us gathered together at 7.30 tonight, decided on a ‘potter’ round the lakes. Starting up Chorley New Road we reached the Millstone pub, where, as usual we turned right. Passing between the lakes we bore sharply round to the left and commenced climbing over a hard stony surface. Higher up the views of the lakes were magnificent. After twisting for some miles we took the Belmont road from Rivington. Came a walk for two miles until we were on the moors, and with a glorious sunset sky and fine views behind us we fled down to Belmont. Lighting up, we had a grand run home after a glorious night out.
