Tuesday, March 20 – Lever Park

After waiting for 20 minutes at Albert Road, two more came up, and then another, so together we started via Horwich to the Millstone.  Turning right as usual we mounted the hill, and running between the lakes came to the village.  Walking for a while we came on to the moors from where we dropped into Lever Park.  [Yesterday he mentioned seeing workmen starting fires on the moors].  The scent of burning bracken from the hills was very strong here although we could not see the fires.  After some sharp drops we came to the Crown Hotel and then home against a strong breeze.                                Distance 23 miles    2 hours
