This afternoon’s run with the Bolton CTC was to be Flixton, but, as the leader didn’t turn up, we decided to go to Millington. At 3pm we started, nine of us, but when we reached Barton Bridge, there were only six left. Via Sale to Altrincham we pushed, along a dirty road (it had been raining up till the start) where another rider dropped out. Just past the Nags Head Inn on the Chester road, we turned right and by a pretty bylane we came to a farmhouse of the old style. Here we had tea, afterwards having a chat before the fire, whilst the only lady of our group gave us a tune on the piano. At 7.30pm we left, and gaining the Lymm road we soon reached Warburton Bridge. Now two of us broke away from the rest and made for Bolton via Glazebury and Leigh, chatting the whole while on cycling topics. I was home by 9.30pm.
