Tonight we had promised to bring back the two ‘backsliders’ from yesterdays outing, so starting at 5.30pm we made our way to Stretford and Didsbury. Having plenty of time we stopped awhile on the Mersey bridge at East Didsbury, and again stopped on a grassy bank by the Wilmslow road. A little further on we turned into a bylane and procured some lilac blossom, and having adorned the lamp, we hurried to the rendezvous. One was waiting, but it was 8.40 before the other – from Wilmslow – turned up. Together we made a good pace along the traffic laden roads. At Walkden one punctured and I stopped with him whilst the others rode on. Restarting with lamps lit we reached home at 10.45pm.
