Monday, July 17 – Warburton

This evening we started about 6.50pm, a strong sidewind keeping us busy. Passing through Leigh and Glazebury, we made for Warburton toll bridge. We soon covered the stretch of flat land from Leigh, and in a little over an hour we were on the bridge drinking the view, and calculating the distance between us and the water below. Five minutes later we were free-wheeling down the long slope and paying our pennies at the toll house, and taking the road to Partington. Following this bumpy bylane we reached the latter village, and then Flixton. Four miles of good roads, and we eventually reached Barton Bridge and then home via Worsley and Walkden at 10pm.
